What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant that provide therapeutic relief. Cannabinoids are found most concentrated in a cannabis flower’s trichomes– globular crystals that cover the flower buds like sugar on a cookie. There are over a hundred cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.
Cannabinoids in the cannabis plant are chemical twins to cannabinoids produced naturally by the human body. In fact, the body and brain are filled with cannabinoid receptors which interact naturally with those introduced into the body with cannabis.
The most prevalent, well researched and most familiar cannabinoids are Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD). However, did you know there are over 100 cannabinoids in the cannabis plant? Some of the better understood elements are in the image above.
